People travel from around the globe to experience the fine golf courses that are associated with The Legends Resort. Oyster Bay Golf Links has proven itself to be a timeless classic over the years. Designed by award-winning golf course architect Dan Maples and developed by Larry Young, the course has something to offer golfers of every skill level - from beginners to experts.
Oyster Bay has received numerous awards, and golfers will quickly learn that such accolades are well-deserved. Golf Digest had named it Resort Course of the Year and ranked it among the top 50 public courses in the United States. Locally, it has received awards, as well, when GOLF Magazine rated it one of North Carolina's Best Courses Near You. Many golfers love the fact that Oyster Bay Golf Links has been recognized as a top golf course; however, they also relish the fact that the course is well-maintained, challenging, and fun when they come to play on its greens and fairways.
Oyster Bay Golf Links is well-loved for its beauty and its challenges - it is why golfers return to the 18-hole, par-70 course again and again. Several holes are surrounded by marshland, two holes are actually islands, and water can be found almost everywhere. The course layout is unique and the scenery is breathtaking. Carolina pines line the fairways giving it a natural feel, while strategically-placed bunkers and undulating greens make the course one of the more difficult ones in the area.
Located in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, there is a little something for everyone. Miles upon miles of beaches can be found nearby. There are shopping centers, restaurants, and endless activities - from the cultural to the educational to the out-right fun. Bird Island beckons many a visitor, while others are drawn to the Ingram Planetarium. Of course, there is golf and countless beachside or ocean-going activities from boating to fishing to just lounging on the warm sand.
Since it is part of The Legends Resort, many golfers who play at Oyster Bay choose to visit the stunning Legends Clubhouse. It includes two on-site restaurants that serves all meals and includes a full-service bar. In addition, the Golf Academy at Legends has been ranked among the top schools of golf by GOLF Magazine. A large lighted driving range is perfect for practicing into the evening hours, putting and chipping greens will help improve on those tough-to-perfect areas of golf, and a fully stocked golf pro shop offers all the necessities, and then some.
