Dan Maples' golf course at Sea Trail Resort is a beautiful addition to Sunset Beach, North Carolina. One of the top draws of the coastal area, Sea Trail Resort is home to three fabulous golf courses: the Dan Maples course, the Willard Byrd course, and the Rees Jones course. Since its opening, Sea Trail Resort's Maples course has attracted many golfers to its well-maintained fairways from all corners of the globe. The Maples course was designed by top-ranked golf course architect, Dan Maples. As a par 72 course, it gives golfers the chance to overcome many golfing challenges as they tee off from one of four sets of makers at each hole. The yardage is as wide ranging as can be and depends largely on the level of play. Beginners may prefer to play 5,110 yards while experts may strive to finish 6,797 yards.
Dan Maples' golf course has received the highest praises from a variety of sources. It has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the 'Best New Resort Courses'; as one of North Carolina’s 'Top 100 Courses'; and, it has given it 4 Stars. NC Magazine listed it as one of the coastal area's top five 'Best Conditioned Courses'. In addition, Golfweek has given the Dan Maples course the 'Best Resort Course of Distinction' award. With such amazing honors, golfers will not be surprised at the exquisite beauty and the strategic design of the course. Water is found throughout the course - as the pristine Calabash Creek winds through various holes. Pines and oaks are majestic; but, they are also immovable obstacles guarding the greens. Sand traps are to be expected and waste bunkers are used to test a golfer's accuracy - especially when those that go from tee to green.

Sunset Beach can be found between the historic town of Wilmington, North Carolina and the famous beaches of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
